Instead of one of these tables, you could use a rectangular or square table for the same purpose. This will give you more table space, but will also extend some sharp points into the room, and will reduce the amount of remaining space in the room.
One of the most common things to use in place of a coffee table is old packing cases from early last century. Often these were used to transport tea or other foodstuffs and many still have the original labelling upon them, faded by age. These can make a stylish and surprisingly convenient coffee table and can often be picked up fairly cheaply from antiques centres and fairs. Not only do they make good surfaces they also have a lot of storage space to hide away items that you do not want on display.
A sofa table is basically a furniture piece that will rest against your sofa or couch. Due to its rather narrow and tall style, it can easily save you space in the living room while at the same time offering you great storage options for various small knick-knacks that can fit on the table. The height of these tables is between 40-50" and the narrow aspect allows them to give a person full access to its whole surface area.
Whilst many pieces of furniture are primarily about function and need to be of at least a reasonably standard size and shape to serve their purpose adequately, coffee tables are one area where individual taste and style can be allowed to run wild.
Entertaining: If you're hosting a party, whether it's a birthday party, a summer BBQ, or even a wedding or christening, then a folding table can be used for the food. It's good to have all your drink and food in one place, allowing your guests to easily help themselves to what they want.
Dining: Have you ever invited guests over for dinner and then realised that you don't have enough space to seat them all? Your dining table just isn't big enough, or you don't even own one? Well, a trestle table can solve that problem. It can easily be used to increase your dining space. A four foot table can seat four to six people, and a six foot table can seat six to eight. And if you have a dining table too, these seats can be extra.
